Abilene Regional Medical Center to Add Jobs, New Building

Abilene Regional Medical Center plans to spend $26 Million for expansion and renovation, which will result in the addition of between 100 and 150 employees to the present staff of about 750. The project will involve building a new three-story building adjacent to the ARMC Women's Center and renovating about 30,000 square feet of the existing hospital, officials said. New construction will total about that same square footage, said Xavier Villarreal, chief operating officer. Target for groundbreaking is early March, with completion expected in late 2007, said Debbie McClure, Abilene Regional marketing director. Several public officials lauded the construction plans as an economic boon to the community.
