Texas Tech small business center marks 20 years
April 26, 2007
For 20 years the Texas Tech Small Business Development Center has helped people realize their dreams of owning their own business. Today, in fact, the center is celebrating its 20th anniversary of providing information for budding entrepreneurs. Steve Nussbaum, SBDC counselor, said the center, through its affiliations, is the most comprehensive small business assistance network in the United States. Serving a 17-county area, the Small Business Development Center partnership consists of the U.S. Small Business Administration, Texas Tech University, Development Corporation of Abilene, Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program and Taylor County.
Counseling is offered in business plan development, financial forecasting, marketing, international trade, intellectual properties and business workshops. For the future, Nussbaum said, the SBDC will continue to add new programs to meet the needs of small businesses, such as keeping them posted on ever-changing federal and state laws governing small business and e-commerce.
