School of Pharmacy Opens

The Texas Tech School of Pharmacy opened its doors in Abilene on Sunday, August 12th. The new $12 million building welcomed the first class of forty students which make up the Class of 2011. At full capacity, some 160 students would work toward a doctor of pharmacy degree over four years here. The Abilene site will join Dallas-Fort Worth and Lubbock as satellite campuses to the main School of Pharmacy campus in Amarillo. The inaugural Class of 2011 was presented during a White Coat Ceremony at the historic Paramount Theatre. Immediately following the White Coat Ceremony, a Grand Opening Ceremony was held at the new School of Pharmacy located at 1718 Pine Street. The school will employ 42 full-time faculty and staff members by the time the first class graduates in 2011.
