Genesis Networks Solutions, Inc. Continues Expansion

An assistance package worth up to $2.08 million was approved Tuesday by members of the Development Corporation of Abilene for a software-testing firm that plans to add 150 new jobs in Abilene over the next two years.
Genesis Networks Solutions, Inc., which began in August of 2006 with 18 employees and has grown to a staff of 125, plans to continue its expansion of jobs that pay $35,000 and more annually according to the DCOA resolution.
The DCOA gave Genesis a forgivable loan worth $1.9 million in exchange for 143 jobs almost two years ago, and the company expects to meet its job creation benchmark soon.
"I think it's tremendous that we're bringing new people to Abilene in a new sector of computer software testing," said Richard Burdine, CEO of the DCOA.
Genesis tests software for telecommunications companies that include AT&T and Amdocs, Inc., a billing software company.
From the second floor of the Enterprise Building at 500 Chestnut St., the company tests software for problems and sends it to the developer to make corrections. In addition to quality assurance, the company provides some software production support. To make room for growth, the business will fill into the third floor of the building.
"It's a very big expansion and we're expecting that to continue to grow...Our client has seen what we've been able to offer," said Elaine Reynolds, site manager for Genesis. "We've been able to find really great employees that have been able to handle the work."
The new DCOA package will offer up to $1.8 million over three years for the creation of 150 addiitonal jobs in Genesis' Phase II expansion. It will also fund up to $180,000 in job training grants - $1,200 for each new employee - for a job exam and up to $54,000 to cover relocation costs.
Of the 150 jobs to be added in Phase II of the company's expansion, 145 will make $40,000 to $50,000 a year including benefits, according to DCOA documents, while five will receive $50,000 or more.
